INDEPENDENT VENUE COALITION

OF OREGON

Giving voice to the places and communities you love.

Performance Venues are America’s living rooms, our town halls, and our economic engines. Oregon is a unique ecosystem of some 80 “dedicated” venues, whose entire business model revolves around shows, and “mixed use” venues, which feature live performance as a significant part of their programing and business model.

Venues were entirely closed from MARCH of 2020 until late summer 2021. Following Omicron and other strains of COVID, venues are still hurting, operating at a tremendous disadvantage and, in almost all cases, a loss.

Oregon venues are where people come together to develop empathy.

Oregon venues are where people come together to express their identity.

Oregon venues are where people come together to discover themselves.

Oregon venues are where people come together to find common ground.

Oregon venues are where people come together to support their communities.

Oregon venues are where people come together to participate in commerce, job creation, and economic activity that makes our cities and towns thrive.

First to close, last to reopen, independent venues faced permanent closure if there was not further relief to our industry and interconnected businesses.

Thanks in large part to advocacy by the IVC, most venues received help from the Oregon CARES act allocation, from the SBA Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program, and federal ARPA funding. Most recently, the Oregon Legislature passed a budget in which dedicated venues received meaningful grants to help them survive and take part in Oregon’s recovery and growth.

Hang on to your ticket for rescheduled shows

When you think of Oregon, you think of venues.

Oregon’s assembly spaces are the ones people talk about - where thousands of musicians, performers and employees make their livings. Home to concerts, comedy, public hearings, podcasts, theatrical performances, debates, and community events, venues are cultural and community hubs in their neighborhoods. They anchor the business districts. The incubators for ideas. The places where moments happen.

ARE YOU A VENUE?

Please join Oregon’s IVC by joining our mailing list (YES, MEMBERSHIP IS STILL FREE) AND join NIVA, the National Independent Venue Association - This is where much of the federal work is taking place.

Who We Are

Our mission is to make Oregon venues safe, sustainable, and leaders on the national scene and local communities. Our members range from concert halls that seat thousands to neighborhood bars that depend on music and performance. The common thread is that events bring people together, and our member businesses are passionate about that. Meet our member venues.

Challenges and Ongoing Action

Assembly spaces face a unique set of business needs and face unequalled business hurdles. Learn here about why we have gathered here to tell our story.

Some of our Venues: Click on Red markers to see “Dedicated” Venues whose entire business depends on performances. Blue markers are venues where entertainment/shows are a primary aspect of the business. Green markers are non-profit theaters.
